Not just the naughty kind

I know better than to ever ask, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about it. Much more often than I want to admit. Memories still haunt me, still make me cringe with pain and regret. Knowing that one chance is usually all we get, and there’s no chance to fix it afterwards if it goes down in flames.

Humans can be flexible and forgiving sometimes, but the chances are infinitesimal that these particular ones would ever come back around to wage some peace. I still think about it though – because I’m crazy and I live in an alternate universe where a lot better things happen, and there’s way more forgiveness, compassion, and happy endings. And not just the naughty kind.
